The spiral sand washer is sand washing equipment, and the spiral classifier is mineral processing equipment. However, due to the similar appearance of the two, many users are confused, and some even think that they are almost the same in appearance. So, what are the differences between spiral sand washer and spiral classifier?

1. The shape

The spiral sand washer and spiral classifier do have great similarities in appearance. But the more obvious difference between the two is the blade. The blades of the spiral sand washer are solid blades, and the blades of the spiral classifier are suspended hollow blades.

2. Working principle

The spiral sand washing machine needs to be arranged obliquely, the lower part of the sink is surrounded by a three-sided weir to form a sedimentation tank, and the spiral head is submerged in the sedimentation tank. The spiral is driven by the motor through a reducer to continuously rotate, and clean water is fed into the perforated plate at the bottom of the sedimentation tank. The spiral sand washing machine has three functions: cleaning, dewatering, and grading.

The spiral classifier is a kind of equipment for mechanical classification based on the principle that the solid particles are different in size and specific gravity, so the sedimentation speed in the liquid is different. The fine ore particles float in the water and are discharged by overflow. Coarse ore particles sink to the bottom of the trough and are pushed upward by the screw to be discharged. It can filter the material powder ground in the mill, and then screw the coarse material into the feed port of the mill using a spiral blade, and discharge the filtered fine material from the overflow pipe.

3. Application

Spiral sand washer is mainly used for sand and stone cleaning, and wheel sand washer is commonly used. The output of the spiral sand washer is related to its length and width.

The spiral classifier is widely used in the separation of ore from the ball mill in the concentrator, or the classification of ore and fine mud in the gravity concentrator, the particle size classification of the ore slurry in the metal beneficiation process, and the desliming and dewatering operations in the ore washing operation.

4. Capacity

When used in sand washing operations, because the screw sand washer has a larger blade area, more sand and gravel materials can be transported at the same time, and the processing capacity is about 2-3 times that of the same size classifier.

5. Types

Spiral sand washer is divided into the single spiral and double spiral. The processing capacity can be increased by increasing the length of the sand washer or double spirals side by side. 

Spiral classifiers mainly include high weir single spiral and double spiral, low weir single spiral and double spiral, submerged single spiral and double spiral. Low weir type is rarely used now, mainly high weir type and sunken type.
